Overview

Trading is a crucial part of the SimPvP experience, it brings players closer together as a community as well as gives meaning to huge farms. Without trading on SimPvP, you're better off playing single player.

History of Trade

Early Trade on SimPvP

2011-2019

SOMEONE DO THIS ONE IDK I JOINED IN 2019

2019 Trade Renaissance

2019

Early 2019 saw a huge player boom. Which also meant lots of noobs were looking for traders to supply them and their novice groups. Players like Das_Dankgineer, ostrich1414 & clipchip would be the most active of traders during the most part of early 2019.

Although trading was already a common practice, the start of the first official Trade guilds would start appearing within 2019, for example Melon Boiz Inc.™ was established on April the 2nd. It wouldn't be until December when MBI™ would set up their discord and sell more than just melons.

AntHand & Caudices would follow suit short after, Establishing Caudices Goods™ along with a matching discord.

As MBI™ was a sister clan of COF which was a member of the Bloc for Clans, it offered discounts for it's members. Caudices would do the same too.

Impact of Intervention War on Trade

When the Intervention War started, most active traders were either allied with the BC or neutral throughout the war, leaving MBI™ & Caudices Goods™ to monopolise off the situation (this would later lead to competition and the start of the 2020 trade wars).

The BC also issued a trade blockade on the Axis clans (Dominion, Conspiracy) which was surprisingly successful. But this advantage balanced out as the Axis clans had almost full control of spawn.

2020 Trade Wars

2020

The noobs that joined in 2019 had now established themselves on the server during early 2020, leading to the rise of new Trade Guilds inspired by MBI™ & Caudices.

Some of these groups include Austonia (Early 2020) & Exultia (Mid 2020)

This didn't mean the two originals weren't without conflict. Despite being in the same Clan Union (BC) & still at war with the Axis Clans, MBI™ & Caudices Goods™ would often compete for customers, leading to price drops and hostility.

Francillian-Republican Proxy War

Early 2020 saw the biggest Lord1 hate rally to date, leading to the creation of The Republic & it's puppet guild Exultia.

In summery, Exultia was prepared to give away free items to stop MBI from getting customers, leading to MBI to lower it's prices and making un-profitable deals in hopes the customers would stay.

Trade's Golden Age

Late 2020-Now

Pre-Imperial War

After moving from 2B2T to SimPvP, GS Trading would be instantly recognized for their farm making skills and dedication. Within a few months they were already richer than the majority of the server, and were already one of the top trading guilds.

This would also be the time were Silk Road, the servers first free market was created.

Post-Imperial War

After The Imperial War, the lush peace on the server would lead the top traders to start working together and stop competing (to a certain degree). This would lead to the formation of the Trade Federation. Infamous scammers & pirates started to leave the server at this point, like Sellout9. Anti Piracy measures were put in place and people could report scammers & pirates. Even then some IDIOTS would still trade with convicted felons.

Currency

The DB (Diamond Block) is the unchallenged main currency of SimPvP and has been for years now, it's stable, can't be farmed and universally recognized. When netherite ingots were released on Sim, people expected to take the crown of main currency, alas the DB still reigns strong and will for a long time to come.

You could associate the DB's use in the Portals to its success as a currency.

Caudices PP & Fern Attempt

One of AntHands schemes of 2020 was the creation of new currency's to replace DB. Most prominently, the Poisonous Potatoes (pp) would rise and was widely used until it was revealed that PP farms could be made which would ultimately crash the market. He then tried again with ferns but his reputation was already hanging by a thread at this point.
