Clans: The Order of Wilbur |
Civitrium (formerly known as "New Yittrium") is a base founded on September 4th, 2021, by six members of The Order of Wilbur. Shortly after their self-grief of São Porco, six of the city's members decided to move on and form a new capital city for the OOW, originally naming it "New Yittrium" in homage to Yittrium. Unlike São Porco, Civitrium is a rather diverse base, composed of several sovereign city-states administered by different members, while "Civitrium" is the base as a whole. Each city-state possesses unique aesthetics and styles, from rustic medieval villages to futuristic soaring skyscrapers inspired by the likes of Yittrium and Quabbin. Civitrium is also well known for being home to numerous high-quality farms, with a special emphasis on heavy output production farming; in fact, Civitrium would become the OOW's wealthiest base to date.
After being known as New Yittrium between September 2021 May 2022, the city officially changed its name to "Civitrium" on May 9th in honor of massive restructuring of the base as a whole. The many districts and neighborhoods soon became independent city-states, and the name "New Yittrium" would become the name for MoWobbler's city-state itself.
City-States
Civitrium is home to several unique and distinct city-states. For reference, a "city-state" is a fully sovereign and independent city that officially functions as a country, complete with international borders and governments. Listed below are Civitrium's official city-states:
- New Yittrium
Founder: MoWobbler
Civitrium's most historic city-state, New Yittrium is heavily inspired by former SimPvP cities, specifically Yittrium and Quabbin. New Yittrium features many futuristic builds, from skyscrapers to massive multi-complexes--many of which are direct replicas from the former two cities, including Yittrium's "Industrial District" and Quabbin's "Sphere City", both of which were also created by MoWobbler. New Yittrium is also home to Civitrium's primary portal hub and includes links to all of the base's major farms and infrastructure.
- Wilshire
Founder: cheesy_chips22
Wilshire is a much more rural city-state, featuring many gorgeous medieval villages and towers. The very first village of Wilshire, the original "Wilshire", features cheesy_chips22's famous build style and incorporates a rustic aesthetic. The city-state is home to many handcrafted natural settings, from a man-made forest to a man-made swamp, and boasts the base's tallest structure to date.
- New GFC
Founder: ElectricChugg
Directly inspired by one of his previous bases, GFC, New GFC is a city-state much further in distance from the others. New GFC possesses very mountainous terrain, with its central entrance being in between two large mountains. New GFC features gold as a primary building component, and aims to restore GFC's legacy.
- Wachusett
Founder: ostrich1414
Named after the Wachusett Reservoir (keeping in theme with Massachusetts lake-inspired names, like Quinsigamond and Quabbin), the Republic of Wachusett is ostrich1414's city-state, and the one that instigated Civitrium's breakup into sovereign city-states. The city-state comprises a massive savannah biome that has been artificially flattened and covered in slabs, with a realistic city resting atop it. One of the stricter nations in Civitrium, Wachusett is heavily inspired by cities on the east coast of the USA.
- Laztopia
Founder: Laztec
Located in a massive desert, Laztopia features some of Civitrium's largest megastructures. Laztopia possesses a much grander, exquisite scale than the rest of the base, with massive builds composed of gold, quartz, dark oak wood, and more. Laztopia's large scale is also complimented by its uniquely Romanesque build style.
- Caballo de mar
Founder: TuataraBoots
Also located farther away from the four bordering city-states, TuataraBoot's seaside city-state, Caballo de mar (Spanish for "sea horse"), is one of the most unique nations in Civitrium. The city-state's primary exports are horses, thanks to its massive horse farm and the sprawling horse breeding ranch, known as Chicken Bacon Ranch. Caballo de mar takes advantage of its coastal location through many maritime-inspired builds.
- Republic of Semi-Activity
Founder: willowienal
The most semi-active city-state at Civitrium, the Republic of Semi-Activity isn't necessarily active, but it isn't necessarily inactive either, much like its founder, willowienal. The base is notable for being primarily composed of acacia blocks, being located in a savannah and harboring a rustic, small-town feel. The core village is quaint in size and scope. He has recently added a police station, castle ruins and a secret knowledge hub, and is now beginning on a sky block above his base.
History
São Porco Refugees
Due to the ferocity of The GS YMP Conflict of 2021, The Order of Wilbur's capital city, São Porco, would get caught up in the mix, regularly being targeted with threats from YeeterMyPeeter. This was not helped due to São Porco housing bruno_vera, a dual member of both the OOW and YMP, which made the other members wary. By August 2021, it was clear that São Porco's lifespan was going to be cut short, and this was soon confirmed by Nebuelaz, who revealed that YMP did, in fact, have São Porco's coordinates, and were planning an attack on the city soon. Desperate to take matters into their own hands before YMP could, six of São Porco's core members--ostrich1414, MoWobbler, cheesy_chips22, willowienal, ElectricChugg, and GentleGiant69--decided to loot the entire city and then grief it.
On August 28th, these players all convened in Vila Porta, the center of the city, and immediately began to grief every building and farm at the base. This, of course, came shortly after the city had been entirely looted, allowing the members to save everything they could in a hidden underground bunker, far away from the city. Once São Porco had been fully looted and severely griefed, these players would remain in this small, cramped bunker for at least a week, all while they started the search for a new location to call home. Using WilburThePig as a shared account to fly farther out for a new base, they eventually settled upon a vast landmass consisting of a variety of biomes all converging together--plains, roofed forest, savannah, extreme hills, and forest, all in one immediate location. The six eventually settled here on September 4th, transferring all of São Porco's looted items from the bunker to this new spot.
This soon-to-be-city was named "New Yittrium", in honor of the former city of Yittrium which ostrich1414, MoWobbler, and cheesy_chips22 had based at. The primary reason this name was chosen, however, was because of MoWobbler's grand plan for the city: it would be heavily inspired by elements from both Yittrium and Quabbin (another former city of theirs), incorporating some of their old builds into this new base's cityscape.
A New Wilburian Capital
Unlike many former Wilburian bases, New Yittrium would put an emphasis on security and safety like never before; the members of the city would forbid any screenshots of the base's terrain to be shown public (hence the scarcity of images on this wiki article), and they would also be exclusively strict in their membership, only keeping themselves as members for months. Feeling like they finally had a chance at a long lasting base, New Yittrium almost immediately became home to several farms, thanks primarily to GentleGiant69's skills in redstone and industry. The blossoming city soon saw the construction of a five-layer gold farm, a massive villager trading hall, a bartering farm, a triple gunpowder/iron/sugarcane farm, a guardian farm, a raid farm, and an obsidian farm, among others.
While the farming sector of the base skyrocketed, turning the city into the Order of Wilbur's wealthiest base yet, it was relatively slow to produce more aesthetic builds. MoWobbler began work on his anticipated Yittrium/Quabbin hybrid, first employing several of New Yittrium's members to dig out a massive rectangular quarry at the foot of his build, and then beginning work on a megastructure inspired heavily by Yittrium's "Industrial District", which he himself had built back in 2019. Above this futuristic complex of buildings, MoWobbler would then begin work on his replica of Sphere City, another build of his he had produced at Quabbin in 2020.
Cheesy_chips22, meanwhile, would begin work on his own unique district, known as Wilshire. Unlike MoWobbler's district, Wilshire had a more medieval and rustic style of architecture, seeing the construction of several medieval houses and churches dotting the face of a hill. Cheesy_chips22 would also use his skills as a terraformer to transorm the land surrounding Wilshire into a scenic vista of natural beauty and blooming vegetation. In many ways, Wilshire would embody some of cheesy_chips22's previous work from other cities, especially that seen in Yittport at Yittrium.
A Tale of Loss and Gain
Although New Yittrium had been growing steadily throughout September to early October 2021, it would experience a brief period of inactivity between mid October and mid November. Due to the toxic climate of the server at the time, several of the city's members would temporarily migrate from SimPvP to another similar server, known as Uneasy Vanilla. During this time, MoWobbler and GentleGiant69 would be the only ones somewhat active at the city, although even then their progress was slow. Over half of New Yittrium's population would stay focused on their other base at Uneasy Vanilla until roughly mid November 2021, when they would leave the server due to an incident regarding blatant admin abuse. Once again, they would return their attention to SimPvP, and back to New Yittrium.
Between late November and throughout December, a steady period of progress returned to the city. MoWobbler's district had grown significantly since September, becoming the largest part of the city thus far. Willowienal had also begun work on several areas of his own, including an underwater base made of glass, an acacia village, and a statue of Wilbur modeled after the Buddha. ElectricChugg would also start his own underground base, although this was unfortunately never completed. Meanwhile, GentleGiant69 would continue to focus on the city's bustling industrial sector, adding more farms. Thanks to the server updating to 1.17, a shulker farm and a glow squid farm were added to the city, and a high-powered obsidian farm replaced their old one, providing New Yittrium with an immense surplus of obsidian. An auto-smelter was also constructed, using coal as its primary fuel source thanks to the city's massive abundance of coal.
Once again, tragedy would strike when, on January 1st, 2022, GentleGiant69 would officially leave SimPvP. New Yittrium had lost its most active member and its core farm designer, a major blow to the city, and the Order of Wilbur as a whole. After GentleGiant69's departure from the server, progress at the city was slow, and the remaining members felt that it was time to consider adding a new member or two to revitalize it. A few weeks later, on January 17th, the newest members were added to New Yittrium in GentleGiant69's place: Laztec and TuataraBoots, two of the most recent members of the Order of Wilbur. Thanks to their own skills at building and farm creation, they would become the newest members of the city since September 2022, and would help to bring New Yittrium into its most active era yet.
Transition to Civitrium and City-States
Although New Yittrium was relatively stagnant between January and March, it once again picked up speed in terms of activity, thanks in part to both Laztec and TuataraBoots joining the base, and a renewed interest in building from its members, especially MoWobbler and cheesy_chips22. GentleGiant69 would also return to both SimPvP and the city in March 2022 after his short hiatus, once again returning to building high-quality farms for the base. However, with this new growth would come massive changes.
By April, ostrich1414--after many months of barely being active at the base--finally had a renewed sense of motivation and began to work on his own massive project at New Yittrium, flattening an entire savannah biome to one y-level and then covering it in slabs. At first just planned to be a separate district of New Yittrium, ostrich1414 soon devised grander plans for his project: it would become a fully sovereign, independent country--a city-state. Announcing this to the rest of the members, ostrich1414 stated that his area, now defined by hard international borders, would become the Republic of Wachusett, a fully sovereign city-state separate from New Yittrium. This idea inspired the rest of the base, and shortly after, the other members began devising plans to establish city-states as well within their own claimed territories. By the middle of the month, each member had established clear boundaries around their land, drawing international borders between each other.
Of course, since the base was now breaking up into several independent city-states, the issue of the name "New Yittrium" came into question, as "New Yittrium" was also the name of MoWobbler's city-state, which by then was the most built-up part of the base. Figuring that the base as a whole needed a new name and identity, and that "New Yittrium" should be reverted to the name of MoWobbler's project, the members voted on a new name that would encompass all city-states under one single continent. By May 9th, the base's name was officially changed to "Civitrium", based on the Latin word civitatrium which means both "civilization" and "city". It was also decided that the base's many farms would be neutral territory, not owned by any one city-state. With a brand-new identity for themselves, Civitrium entered a new period of prosperity and a renewed sense of motivation.
