World Border
The World Borders of Sim PvP are locations few players have visited, and even fewer have physically traveled to. While the World Borders of today are all 30 million blocks from Spawn, in Sim PvP's earliest months this was not the case, and an artificial Border existed close to Spawn, being a source of much controversy. This page is a WIP, feel free to contribute, it will result in the deletion of some (not all) related pages.
The Overworld World Border
The 5k World Border of 2011/2012
In late 2011 a vote was held on the servers forums[1] to add an artificial World Border 5000 blocks from Spawn. The vote barely passed and the artificial Border was put in place, with players outside of it already being allowed to remain outside until they died. The creation of the artificial Border, as well as the manner in which the vote was held, was a subject of much controversy that led to a second poll[2] being held a few months later. This poll resulted in the Border being removed and also led to the creation of /world as a compromise between those who wanted a small Border for increased PvP and those who wanted the freedom to travel far from Spawn.
The World Border Expedition
Over 7 years players gradually migrated further and further from Spawn due to the removal of the artificial World Border as well as the gradual accumulation of wealth older players obtained that allowed them the ability to travel further out. ZeroVisibility reached 1.5 million at some point, clipchip reached 4 million, and Infam0us2 reached 7.5 million, becoming the furthest player from Spawn. By 2018, the record stood at 7.5 million blocks, with the 30 million block World Border not even being a thought on anyone's mind, save for one player.
On May 29th, 2018 DakkaDok began traveling south from Spawn[[3]], intent on going all the way to the World Border 30 million away. Initially, he only flew in the overworld, making the journey take 8 times as long as it would if he flew in the Nether. As a result, it took 5 days for him to reach 1 million blocks. The day after, DakkaDok died stalling his progress for 2 days until he could obtain supplies from clipchip, who agreed to provide him with materials in exchange for a portal to the Border. By the end of the month, DakkaDok had reached 8 million blocks and was the furthest player from Spawn in the history of the server.
By September 17th, 2018 DakkaDok had reached 15 million blocks from Spawn, building his infamous 15 million milestone.
When the server updated to 1.13 in November of that year, DakkaDok's progress was slowed, and a forced suicide on November 24th resulted in him losing much progress and motivation. Eventually, DakkaDok stopped 22 million from Spawn and started building his new city, Nos Aeterna. At the end of the year he began selling access to portals 8 and 15 million blocks from Spawn respectively.
Overworld Border Reached
On May 10th, 2019 clipchip reached the X+ Overworld World Border, becoming the first player to ever do so.
The World Border Mystery
A strange glitch occurred on March 8th, 2020 that teleported cheesy_chips22 to the Overworld World Border. After this happened, he invited Zepheron to come there with him and the two left signs before DakkaDok made them leave.
The World Border Coalition
On August 18th, 2020 A Player by the name of SkullerG formed a coalition with their fellow group members from the GS Trading Co. to fly to world Borders. Their first border to reach was Z+ world border. On September 22nd, 2020, SkullerG lit the nether portal to Z+ world border, only to find that the chunks in the area predated 1.4 terrain. After further investigation with the admins, Yukarion discovered that he teleported there predating 1.4, and loaded the chunks. SkullerG lit a shift portal allowing members of the GS Trading Co. to see the border for themselves.
The second world border The Worldborder Coalition was going to conquer would be X+ World Border. SkullerG, leading the flying to X+ with help from 4Pilot, _Goujon_ and ZedZeppelin, began to fly on April 24th, 2021. The Netherside of the border was loaded by SkullerG waiting for their counterparts to wake up to screenshare the border. 4Pilot, had the honor of loading X+ world border on June 12th, 2021. With most of the flying being done by SkullerG, the group agreed to put the title of two world borders reached under SkullerG's name.
Shortly after, the founding of GS Base 3, SkullerG decided to fly to X- Z+ World Corner Solo. The expedition started on July 28th, 2021. With tons of rockets and a lot of time, SkullerG reached X- Z+ World Corner on August 6th, 2021, Claiming the world corner under the group GS Trading Co.
On December 13th, 2023, 4Pilot with tons of spare time, was randomly inspired to proceed on a mission the members have wanted to do since they stepped foot on simpvp. That was to travel to the + + world corner located at 30,000,000 30,000,000. So, 4Pilot did. On the 13th of December, 4Pilot, starting from The Abyss, clipchip's now abandoned base, began flying to corner, over the course of 9 days, would fly around 3,375,000 nether blocks or an equivalent of 27 million blocks in the overworld. He averaged around 375,000 nether blocks a day, absolutely no-lifeing the adventure. On December 22nd, 2023, 4Pilot was only 125,000 blocks away from world corner. He decided to let SkullerG fly the remaining distance. That same day 4Pilot and SkullerG would arrive to the location, making them the first players to ever touch foot on this corner of the map.
What took players weeks, and months to travel such distance, took 4Pilot 9 days.
The End World Border
Early Travels
Prior to Java Edition 1.9, traveling in the End was much more difficult than it is today. With no elytra to fly, and no terrain to generate, traveling required players to either bridge manually or use flying machines. Both of the latter methods were used by MisterStrawman in his early journeys through the End. Ultimately MisterStrawman's travels led to him founding Andromeda in 2015, perhaps the farthest base in the End at the time. The base was intended to be untouchable, but was ultimately found in 2019 and abandoned by MisterStrawman.
The End World Border Expedition
In 2019 TheOnlySlash decided to start flying in the End to see how far he could go. However upon reaching a seemingly endless void and being unable to go around it, he stopped and delayed his progress. At some point the year after, the issue was patched and the voids no longer generated, allowing TheOnlySlash to bring Korijenkins on his journey. The plan was to reach the End World Border and begin a new base that would replace Belgium.
After a lot of flying, TheOnlySlash and Korijenkins got bored and promptly gave up, proceeding to build Void City rather than continue flying. Almost a year later, DakkaDok, failure of the Overworld World Border Expedition, joined the Void City. Like all VC members, DakkaDok quickly became very inactive and a few weeks after joining never logged on. However, upon hearing of their progress in traveling, DakkaDok rekindled interest in the journey. For DakkaDok it was a chance at redemption, for TheOnlySlash it was an excuse to do drugs, and for Korijenkins it was a chance to stop running in circles at the base and do something productive.
Unlike the overworld Border, the End required more traveling as there was no Nether dimension that could condense the trip from 30 million into 3.75 million. Due to their effectively infinite supply of rockets and xp bottles, materials were not a concern, and the only resources to manage were time and sanity.
On December 8th, the End World Border Expedition publicly revealed their 15 million milestone, but by then they had already reached 25 million. Finally on December 29th, 2021 the End World Border Expedition team, accompanied by clipchip for some reason, reached the End World Border together, being the furthest players from Spawn ever due to the condensation of Overworld travel thanks to the Nether.
The Nether World Border
A brief teleportation glitch discovered by SkullerG was used to test teleportation and crashes on simpvp. On December 21th, 2020 the exploit was used to teleport to Z+ nether world border with permission from Yukarion.
